Missing the final 2nd FSX due to other obligations at home (owner being sick) Malpi was eager to attend the final Review Meeting in Brussels on the 4th of April 2023 and meet the Project Officer (PO) and old friends within the INGENIOUS project.
The Responder Technology Cluster (RTC) of the DRS02-related projects INGENIOUS, NIGHTINGALE, RESCUER, MED1stMR, TeamAware, PathoCERT, INTREPID, Search & Rescue and RESPOND-A has been established with the support of the Crisis Management Innovation Network Europe (CMINE).
Seven EU-funded projects (INGENIOUS, FASTER, ASSISTANCE, CURSOR, INTREPID, PathoCERT and RESPOND-A) have joined forces and established the Safety F.I.R.S.T. (First Responder Support Technologies) cluster with the valuable support of the Horizon Results Booster to enhance projects’ dissemination activities and promote good practice in research through collaboration and knowledge-sharing activities.
As a starting point, a joint video and a joint newsletter have been created as part of the Horizon Results Booster, which supports EU projects tackling similar issues and topics in boosting their joint dissemination efforts by identifying commonalities among them and producing cluster dissemination materials, such as videos.
The INGENIOUS coordinator, the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) will organise the PSCE Conference in Lavrion, Greece on 10-11 May 2023 in collaboration with the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and the Public Safety Communication Europe (PSCE).
The INGENIOUS project organised its Final Event virtually on Tuesday 31 January 2023. After three years and five months of productive research work and innovation the INGENIOUS partners showcased the project’s results and outcomes and demonstrated the final INGENIOUS solution for the First Responder (FR) of the Future: A Next Generation Integrated Toolkit (NGIT) for Collaborative Response, increasing protection and augmenting operational capacity. The event generated great interest, attracting around 90 participants from Europe and worldwide.
The INGENIOUS Conference Paper titled “DisasterMM: Multimedia Analysis of Disaster-Related Social Media Data Task at MediaEval 2022” was submitted to the MediaEval 2022 Workshop which was held on 12-13 January 2023, collocated with MMM 2023 in Bergen, Norway and also online.

The INGENIOUS Conference Paper titled “Field trials of information fusion, expert reasoning, social media exploitation and worksite operations in SAR missions – INGENIOUS (EU Horizon 2020)” has been presented at the 9th International Conference on Civil Protection & New Technologies – SafeThessaloniki 2022, in Thessaloniki, Greece, on 29 September – 01 October 2022.
A press release about the successful organisation of the INGENIOUS 2nd Full Scale eXercise and the 2nd International Workshop on “Tools for the First Responder of the Future” was published on November 25, 2022.
The INGENIOUS Journal Paper titled “Microdrone-Based Indoor Mapping with Graph SLAM” was published in the Special Issue of Drones (ISSN 2504-446X) entitled Applications of UAVs in Civil Infrastructure on 14 November 2022.
