The Small Scale Test #17 (SST#17) of the INGENIOUS project was dedicated to the Social Media Application (SMA) testing and validation and took place on 28-29 September 2022 at Ertzaintza facilities in Iurreta, Bilbao, Spain.

The INGENIOUS Conference Paper titled “Real-time Alert Framework for Fire Incidents Using Multimodal Event Detection on Social Media Streams” has been presented at the ISCRAM 2022 – 19th International Conference on Information Systems for Crisis Response and Management, in Tarbes, France on May 22- May 25, 2022.
The INGENIOUS Journal Paper titled “Earthquakes: From Twitter Detection to EO Data Processing” was published in the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters journal on February 14, 2022.
Small Scale Tests of the INGENIOUS Fusion Engine, Expert Reasoning Engine, Worksite Operations App and Social Media App (SST#7 & SST#8)
On September 29th, 2021 a field testing activity for the INGENIOUS project took place at HRTA’s training facilities in Afidnes (ATC), Attica region of Greece. The INGENIOUS project is about ensuring a high level of protection and augmented operational capacity for First Responders (FR) working inside the disaster area.
The first and second rounds of the Laboratory and Integration Tests (LITs) of the Social Media Application, which is being developed by our partners from CERTH, took place on the 30th of October 2020 and the 28th of May 2021. Both of them consisted of three parts. First, the presentation of the Social Media Application framework (Figure 1) and the progress on its development. Secondly, a live demonstration and, finally, an open discussion, where the attendees could ask for clarifications or leave some comments.
The Social Media App, developed by CERTH, aims to provide the INGENIOUS system with crowdsourced information by collecting in a real-time manner social media data from Twitter (tweets), analysing their textual and visual content to enrich them with additional information, and allowing the end users to view the collected and analysed tweets in a friendly user interface.
One of the main INGENIOUS objectives is to enhance data collection and processing during an emergency operation and to enhance information dissemination to FRs at all levels of command. In this context INGENIOUS partners are working on the:
