Small Scale Test of the INGENIOUS Common Operational Picture and Multilingual Operations App (SST#18)

In events of disaster, a clear understanding of the situation by the First Responders (FRs) is critical for good decision making. However, during these very dynamic situations, the enormous amount of information can become a handicap and restrain effective decisions.  INGENIOUS is following a unified approach, where information collected from the different INGENIOUS Next Generation Integrated Toolkit (NGIT) modules is shared with FRs on a “need to know basis”. Through the Enhanced Common Operational Picture ECOP (Satways) module, FRs are receiving the right information at the right time, enabling them to take the right actions at critical moments.

Small Scale Tests of the INGENIOUS Helmet, Uniform, Boots, Augmented Reality Platform, Common Operational Platform and Multilingual Translation App (SST#1, SST#3 and SST#9)

From 11 to 15 October 2021, our SBFF partners hosted three Small Scale Tests (SSTs), SST#1, SST#3 and SST#9 of INGENIOUS, in collaboration with the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) at their main training field in the south of Sweden.

INGENIOUS Multilingual Operations App (MOA)

Natural Language Processing (TALN) Group at the UPF has been working within the INGENIOUS project on the Multilingual Operations App (MOA) which aims to facilitate the communication between international First Responder teams (FRs) and the Command Center through the COP/C3 platform. Specifically, the MOA does speech-to-speech translation, enabling the FRs to send voice messages in their own language that will be transcribed, translated to English and received in the COP/C3 as text and/or voice messages.

Laboratory Integration and Testing of INGENIOUS COP/C3 Platform and Multilingual Service (LIT#9 & LIT#18)

The INGENIOUS development process has deployed an agile and participatory process that brings First Responders (FRs) as equals in the implementation process throughout the entirety of the project. Co-design, early testing and validation of the project will ensure that INGENIOUS will deliver robust and effective tools to the first responders with minimum effort and resources.
