Small Scale Test of the INGENIOUS Field Communication, MAX, Swarm of MINs, Deployable IPS & Large scale mapping (SST#14)

From 28th to 30th of September 2022 the Small Scale Test #14 (SST#14) which took place at ERTZAINTZA’s training facilities in Brigada movil, Bilbao, Spain, focused on testing and validation of the INGENIOUS Smart Devices in the air and on the ground.

The Deployable Positioning System and MACS-SaR developed by DLR to increase the situational awareness and operational capacity of first responders

The deployable Integrated Positioning System (IPS) for self-localization and environmental mapping will track and trace first responders and offer seamless navigation indoors and outdoors in an absolute reference system, while also creating a map of the surrounding environment and detecting and tracking persons and assets in real time.

The INGENIOUS Smart mapping and localization devices

The design and prototyping of several smart flying and ground devices have been performed in the first year of Ingenious. One of the INGENIOUS main aims is to provide first responders with new instruments to enable improved scene perception, indoor/outdoor mapping, accurate self-localization in indoor environments, as well as data communication with other devices. For this purpose INGENIOUS partners from SINTEF, FOI and DLR are developing three drones (MIN, MAX and MACS) and a self-localization tool (IPS). All these devices are connected with the field communication system.
