The wearable solutions of the INGENIOUS Next Generation Integrated Toolkit (NGIT) will be presented at the webinar titled “Sensors and Smart Wearables for First Responders” which will take place online on November 2nd 2021 between 10:00 and 12:30 CET. The event is the second in a series of open Webinars organised by our DRS Cluster project RESPOND-A, addressing new technologies for first responders.  

The INGENIOUS wearable solutions with an emphasis on the Uniform and Boots will be presented by our partner from TEKNIKER, who is responsible for the development of the INGENIOUS Intelligent Uniform device. The INGENIOUS Uniform and Boots are main elements of the “smart” first responders concept (a holistic enhancement of their basic elements like the helmet, uniform, boots and K9 companions), which are used to increase their sensing capabilities, improve protection mechanism and enhance their situational awareness. This will allow them to upgrade an efficient collaborative and coordinated response, in combination with other parts of the NGIT such as the “Smart” devices in the air and on the ground, the Augmenting Common Operational Picture and the set of FR apps.

The event will focus on the use of Sensors and Smart Wearables to enhance First Responders’ operation. Three cluster EU projects: INGENIOUS, FASTER and SIXTHSENSE will contribute, presenting their solutions, their features and benefits for the first responders. Moreover, the webinar will introduce the RESPOND-A project to interested stakeholders and discuss the relevance of Sensors and Smart Wearables in first responders operations/training as well as their integration within the RESPOND-A platform. The programme will also feature the lessons learnt from the Cyprus Fire Service in dealing with the recent megafires in Cyprus.
