Our partners in I.S.A.R. Germany are currently supporting the joint RKI/EMT/GOARN mission deployed by the Centre for International Health Protection (ZIG) at the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) to bolster the effort of the Republic of Kosovo to respond to COVID-19 pandemic. The 2-week mission is organized by the RKI in close co-operation with WHO and the Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (GOARN) and will end on the 3rd of October.

The experts are supporting with their expertise and knowledge the Ministry of Health of Kosovo and local health care workers in the fields of surveillance, epidemiology, risk communication and laboratory diagnostics. The medical specialists are working together providing shadowing support of clinical personnel and on-the-job COVID-19 training.  Support and advice on implementing infection prevention and control (IPC) measures are provided as well.

The jointed mission comprises of coordination experts from the EMT National Focal Point Team at ZIG as well as medical specialists from the German Emergency Medical Teams (EMTs) Humedica, Johanniter Unfallhilfe and I.S.A.R. Germany, complemented by experts from the Universitätsmedizin der Charité, the Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf and the Bundeswehr Medical Service Command.
