Conference on Research and Innovation in the Ertzaintza

On February 21,
2020, the II Conference on Research and Innovation ERTZAINTZA took at the EUSKALDUNA Palace, in Bilbao, organized by the Basque Government's Security Department.
The inauguration of the Conference was in charge of the Basque Government Security Regional Minister, Mrs. Estefanía Beltrán de Heredia Arroniz, accompanied by the Directors of the Security, Game and Entertainment Coordination, the Director of ERTZAINTZA, and the Head of ERTZAINTZA, among other authorities.
The purpose of the conference was to share with other stakeholders of the Public Security System, such as technology companies, research centers, academia, public and private security actors, emergencies, volunteering and other NGOs, as well as society in general, the actions which are carrying out, and the research and innovation projects in which the Basque police are participating, specifically the ERTZAINTZA.
The introduction to the Conference was made by Iosu Alonso, Chief Intendant of the Mobile Brigade, and coordinator of the research and innovation actions at the Ertzaintza, advancing the development of the conference and explaining the strategy of the ERTZAINTZA regarding innovation.
The day was structured in four different blocks, starting with the presentation of the completed and ongoing European projects, such as the INGENIOUS Project; a second block on the ERTZAINTZA strategy to carry out these research and innovation actions, how we are preparing internally; Following with a third block related to allies to launch the projects, with the participation of David Rios
Morentín, Policy Officer, DG Migration and Home Affairs, of the European Commission, with Marina Martinez García, H2020 Program Officer, Security , Space, Transpor, SME`s, Environment & Bioeconomy, CDTI, and with Ainara Ripa Centeno, from INTA, National Contact Point for the themes of Safe Societies and Space. The last block referred to the projects and other actions to start during this year 2020.
The INGENIOUS project presentation was carried out by Eduardo Arceredillo Santamaría, Principal Investigator, Director of Industrialization of Electronic Product, TEKNIKER.
Once again, this edition of the conference was very well received by the public from the aforementioned sectors and from different parts of the Spanish state, and was reflected in different media and on the institutional portal of the Basque Government, IREKIA.
